📋 About This Mod
NEXT Rav3n's Starship Tweaks
Hello! There has always been a few things I thought could be different about the starships in NMS. Some mods out there got pretty close but none ever nailed it. So with NEXT out I thought I would give it a go. I will be updating this fairly regularly as I find things I want to change, and make those chances. I am also open to suggestions if anyone has good ideas I will consider them and test. So without further adieu:
Features:
This is a bit spartan atm, dont worry I will update with more soon!
-
[]Ability for stationary stable hovering and slow reverse flight in atmosphere. (Stopping in place!)
[
]Reduced cost of takeoff, may be altered in the future.[]Improved maneuverability during boost and pulse jump.
[]Massively increased Pulse Jump speed.
- Experimental Optional file for changes to low altitude/low speed camera.
This mod uses GCSPACESHIPGLOBALS. GLOBALS. MBIN, and will be incompatible with any mods that use the same file!
I will also be doing a mod for the Exocraft, which will change quite a bit of their speed, handling and "weapon" characteristics.
NEXT Starship Tweaks by SarcasticBlackcat modifies No Man's Sky starship behavior, adding stable hovering, slow reverse flight, reduced takeoff cost, improved maneuverability, and massively increased pulse jump speed. It edits GCSPACESHIPGLOBALS.GLOBALS.MBIN, so it conflicts with other mods using that file. An optional experimental file tweaks low-altitude camera. Last updated in 2018, it has 310 endorsements.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-tested with 310 endorsements and over 6,400 downloads—clearly a popular tweak for ship handling.
- Adds practical features like stable hovering and reverse flight, which are game-changing for atmospheric exploration.
- Author is open to suggestions and plans regular updates, so you can expect refinements.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2018—likely outdated for current No Man's Sky versions, so compatibility is a risk.
- Modifies a core file (GCSPACESHIPGLOBALS.GLOBALS.MBIN), so it will conflict with any other mod touching the same file.
For No Man's Sky players who want more control over their starship, especially those who enjoy low-altitude flying and want to stop mid-air. If you're tired of the default takeoff costs and sluggish pulse jumps, this mod delivers. Skip if you're on the latest game version or rely on other ship mods that edit the same file.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this mod edits GCSPACESHIPGLOBALS.GLOBALS.MBIN, check your other mods for the same file to avoid conflicts—use a mod manager to sort load order.
- The optional camera file is experimental, so test it separately to see if you like the changes before committing.
- If you're playing on a newer version of No Man's Sky, this 2018 mod may not work—back up your save and test in a new game first.
