📋 About This Mod
The heavy requirements to repair damaged slots on crashed ships as well as the high chance of an empty slot being damaged made the quest for distress calls much less appealing from my perspective. This mod decreases the chance percentage of empty slots to be damaged when you find a crashed ships.
It results in more available empty slots and less grind to fully recover the storage capacity.
There will still be a fair amount of damaged empty slots though, and the installed technologies will still be damaged with the same ratio.

This mod reduces the chance of empty slots being damaged on crashed ships in No Man's Sky, making distress calls more rewarding and reducing the grind to restore storage capacity. It still leaves a fair amount of damaged slots and keeps technology damage unchanged. Updated for NMS 5.7 Beacon and tested with 6.0 Voyagers.

📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 940 endorsements and over 31k downloads — clearly fills a need.
- Directly addresses a common frustration: the heavy repair costs and slot damage on crashed ships.
- Simple install: just unzip and drop into the MODS folder; easy to uninstall by deleting the folder.
⚠️ Cons
- Doesn't eliminate damaged slots entirely — you'll still see a fair amount, so don't expect a free ride.
- Only affects empty slot damage; technology damage remains unchanged, so repairs on tech are still a pain.
- No detailed changelog or compatibility notes beyond the stated versions, so future updates might break it.
For No Man's Sky players who hunt distress signals and hate the grind of repairing crashed ships. If you want a more forgiving salvage experience without removing the challenge entirely, this is for you. Skip if you want a full overhaul or if you're fine with the vanilla repair grind.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you place the mod folder in ~\No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\MODS\ — not in the PCBANKS folder.
- If you're on PC Game Pass, the mods folder might be in a different location; check the game's install directory.
- After installing, launch the game and check a crashed ship to see the reduced damage chance — if it doesn't work, verify the folder structure.
