📋 About This Mod
Description
Hazard protection and underwater breathing modules protect you from environmental hazards for a very short amount of time (1 minute 20 seconds), which is barely more than the time your regular suit can protect you, rendering them almost useless as an upgrade.
This mod aims to change that by making the protection of such modules last longer.
The "time" given is an indication, all hazard upgrades have a "charge" of 80 in vanilla. Assuming you're taking exactly 1 point of "hazard damage" per second, it'll last 80 seconds, so 1min20 sec. But S class upgrades, while having the same charge, reduce the amount of hazard damage you take compared to a C class for exemple. On the other hand the amount of damage you take is also different depending on if you're on a normal or Extreme planet, or if the weather is clear or it's a storm. So for exemple if you take the 15 minute mod version, S class upgrades would usually actually last longer than that on a non-extreme planet with no storm
The charge of the versions is like this :
Vanilla : 80 charge (so 1min20 sec if you're taking 1 damage/sec)
5min : 300 charge
15min : 900 charge
30min : 1800 charge
1h : 3600 charge
This mod changes the file METADATA\REALITY\TABLES\NMS_REALITY_GCTECHNOLOGYTABLE
it is not compatible with any mod that changes this file unless merged (mods that change non-procedural technologies are probably incompatible with it)

It's for players who find the base protection too short and want longer survival without frequent recharging. The mod is regularly updated and has a solid following.

📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 337 endorsements and over 8.5k downloads
- Regularly updated across many game versions, showing active maintenance
- Offers multiple duration options to suit different playstyles
⚠️ Cons
- Incompatible with any mod that changes the same technology table unless merged
- Duration is approximate and varies based on planet conditions and upgrade class
For No Man's Sky players who find the default hazard protection too short and want longer exploration without constant recharging. Also for those who prefer a quality-of-life tweak over a full overhaul. Skip if you use other mods that modify the same technology table, as they will conflict.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Place the mod's .pak file in the GAMEDATA/PCBANKS/MODS folder; create the MODS folder if it doesn't exist.
- If you have other mods that change the same file, use a mod merger tool to combine them, or this mod will override them.
- The actual protection time varies: S-class upgrades and non-extreme planets will last longer than the listed duration.
