📋 About This Mod

As requested by the "Nicest Guy in Modding (c)" dhert

jBUgGf-4bek

Play an unequip animation before equipping a new one outside of the pip-boy.

Very simple mod that plays the unequip animation before playing the equip one.

In vanilla your currently equipped weapon just sort of disappears rather than is unequipped.

This is a request fill so no need to say it's slow or annoying, I get it. It is. But it's IMMERSIVE!

Credit to lStewieAl for seemingly starting this in Tweaks and then abandoning it. I found it after a request from dhert and finished the job.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

✨ Key Features

Plays an unequip animation before equipping a new weapon outside of the Pip-Boy.
Requires NVSE (New Vegas Script Extender) for functionality.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community-approved with 357 endorsements and over 25k downloads.
  • Adds a simple but effective immersion boost to weapon handling.
  • Lightweight mod that doesn't overhaul the whole game—just the switching feel.

⚠️ Cons

  • Requires NVSE, so you'll need to install that first if you haven't.
  • Only affects weapon switching outside the Pip-Boy—in-menu swaps remain vanilla.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Fallout: New Vegas players who want a more realistic weapon swap without a full animation overhaul. If you're tired of weapons teleporting into your hands, this is a quick fix. Skip if you prefer fast-paced swapping or don't want to bother with NVSE.
📦 Install:Medium· 5-10 minutes

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure NVSE is installed correctly—launch the game through NVSE's loader, not the default exe.
  • Test the mod in third-person view to see the full animation effect.
  • If you use a mod manager like Vortex, let it handle the file placement to avoid conflicts.
