📋 About This Mod
In the base game, injecting the FEV Vial into Project Purity doesn’t really change much besides having a few sick patients appear in some settlements. This mod reworks the FEV ending to make it so poisoning the purifier actually matters. In particular, it allows the Enclave to turn the tide of the war and defeat the Brotherhood.
To experience the mod, simply play the game like normal and (obviously) remember to inject the FEV vial into the purifier during the quest “Take It Back.” After the purifier has been activated, the ending slides will play, and two weeks will pass by, like in the base game. However, when you wake up in the Citadel, you won’t be greeted by Elder Lyons. Instead, you will wake up in the middle of an Enclave assault. You can find notes in the Citadel explaining how things went south for the Brotherhood during the two weeks you were out.
Obviously, with the Brotherhood destroyed and Project Purity a failure, the Broken Steel quests are unavailable. You can still visit Adam’s Air Force Base or the Satellite Relay Station, along with revisiting other locations to see how they have been impacted by the Brotherhood’s defeat.
This mod touches a few locations while trying not to be too overbearing or break anything. You can read more about it below:
-
[]The Citadel: Star Paladin Cross will die along with most of the Brotherhood. Three days after the initial assault, the Enclave will fully occupy the Pentagon ruins.
[
]The Jefferson Memorial: The Enclave will have successfully recaptured it.[]GNR: Three Dog is taken off the air, and the Enclave occupies the GNR building.
[]Washington Monument: Some Enclave soldiers will occupy the outpost, and a squad will assault the Underworld with the intent of killing the ghouls.
[]Satellite Relay Station: There is no Brotherhood assault, but there is a boss you can fight.
[]Fort Independence: If Casdin is not dead, then Knight Artemis and Scribe Vallincourt will defect to the Outcasts. You can also find an unstable Tesla Cannon Prototype in the basement.
[]Arlington Library: Raiders will overrun the library.
[]Adam’s Air Force Base: The quest and scripted encounters are disabled, but you can still travel via the Presidential Metro to get to the base.
[]Rivet City: The Enclave will occupy the aircraft carrier and kill the local security forces (failing the Replicated Man quest if you haven’t already completed it). Unlike other Enclave forces, they will not shoot you on sight, and the residents will continue about their business.
[]Fort Bannister: Vertibirds will land and Enclave squads will assault the fort.
If you have Tweaks for TTW installed and enabled bEnclaveCeasefire, then Enclave forces added by this mod will also be friendly.
Functional FEV - Enclave Ending Mod TTW reworks the FEV ending in Fallout 3 to make it more impactful. It's a niche mod for Tale of Two Wastelands players who want a more meaningful conclusion to the Enclave storyline.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solid community support with 120 endorsements and over 75k downloads.
- Targets a specific narrative flaw many players complain about.
- Actively maintained (last updated October 2024).
⚠️ Cons
- Requires Tale of Two Wastelands, which is a heavy dependency.
- Only affects the ending, so if you're not there yet, it's a long wait.
For TTW players who've finished Fallout 3 and felt the FEV ending was underwhelming. If you're looking for a more satisfying conclusion to the Enclave arc, this is for you. Skip if you're not using TTW or if you're fine with the vanilla ending.
