Feral Ghouls Play Dead

This is the creation of my long-awaited mod that makes (almost) all feral ghouls in the Mojave sleep or play dead, similar to features in Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. This mod adds new laying feral ghoul spawns and replaces most base-game spawns, while my previous attempt (Forgotten Feral Ghouls) only adds new indoor laying feral ghoul spawns. Feral Ghouls Play Dead replaces standing feral ghouls at preexisting outdoor and indoor spawns with laying feral ghouls. This is my current best attempt at implementing the mod resource Sleeping Ghouls into the game.

FEATURES

When encountering feral ghouls, they have a high chance to be laying on the ground either pretending to be dead or asleep. This new feral ghoul tactic drastically changes gameplay during feral ghoul encounters, giving players time to potentially use stealth. Several regions and buildings have been recently occupied or visited by feral ghouls that play dead. Feral ghouls are vulnerable to attacks for a short duration of time while transitioning to a standing position. Successful sneaking can allow the player to pass laying ghouls undetected. Feral ghouls are known to wake up quickly so being detected makes it difficult to catch feral ghouls playing dead.

INSTALLATION

Choose only one version to install. Install the latest main file. For manual installation, extract the file to your game’s data folder. For a mod manager installation, install the file with your preferred mod manager.

COMPATIBILITY

Conflicts will likely occur with mods that place characters or objects in the same locations. Mods that change feral ghoul appearances or feral ghoul stats are compatible.

KNOWN ISSUES

The initial release of this mod is considered very experimental as it uses old assets from my other feral ghoul mod Forgotten Feral Ghouls and applies this feature to almost every feral ghoul spawn marker, which can have varying results in game for different users's load orders. Some feral ghouls may clip through the ground and readjust their position and eventually get back up. Some feral ghouls may respawn if hit while transitioning to standing position. These issues will of course be worked on and are considered high priority. Please consider yourself informed and proceed to download at your own risk. Bug reports are still very welcomed though.

Glowing ones and other glowing variants are not included in the initial release as the script is still being worked on (so glowing ones can play dead and resurrect the dead simultaneously). Submitting a bug report will help me fix things faster if the mod is not working as intended.
