There's a small gap when calculating, that's why it says "calculate approximate Karma." Basically, at zero Karma, it will show zero, between zero and ten, it'll show ten, between ten and twenty, twenty, and so on.
And, yes, I'm aware that Karma sucks balls in New Vegas, but I had to get this out of my system.
