📋 About This Mod

Strength Encumbrance Increaser for Morrowind

An Oldblivion version can be found here.

Lets you carry more units of weight per strength point instead of the default 5.

There are 5 versions of the mod you can install:

StrX7. 5 (equivalent to 1. 5x normal encumbrance) (recommended version)

StrX10 (equivalent to 2x normal encumbrance)

StrX15 (equivalent to 3x normal encumbrance)

StrX20 (equivalent to 4x normal encumbrance)

StrX25 (equivalent to 5x normal encumbrance)

The recommended version is 1. 5x, but feel free to choose the version fit best for your style of play.

This is intended to be a mod that provides a minor to moderate QOL, depending on how big an issue inventory management is to you. This is not intended to be an outright infinite carry capacity mod/cheat.

There are more powerful mods available should you desire total freedom from encumbrance.

=============

Disclaimer:

-I am not sure if this mod affects NPC encumbrance multipliers, which could effect the efficacy of burden spells. Use at your own risk if you are a frequent user of burden type spells.

=============

Version info:

-Various typos/spelling fixes.

-Cleaned dirty edits.

-Separate downloadable files to be Vortex compatible.

-Added readme to download (how could I forget that!?)

-Added 4 new settings you can choose from.

-Fixed some typos here on the description page.

-Initial release

=============

Installation:

-Download version you want with vortex or your favorite mod manager.

-Download and extract the desired version to your Morrowind's Data Files

-Enable in Morrowind Launcher or your favorite mod managing program.

If multiple versions of the mod are loaded, the one latest in the load order will take precedence.

=============

Uninstallation:

-Disable esp with Morrowind Launcher or your favorite mod managing program AND/OR delete the esp you installed from your data files folder.

-This ONLY changes the multiplier of the strength/encumbrance ratio so nothing in game should be compromised. However, you will likely be overburdened, so it is recommended to uninstall this mod prior to saving near a container/inventory/vendor.

This Morrowind mod increases the base carry capacity from 5 units per Strength point to a range between 7.5 and 25, offering several flavors to suit different playstyles. It is compatible with OpenMW (tested up to 0.48) and is a simple gameplay tweak for players who want to haul more loot without constant encumbrance management.

✨ Key Features

Offers multiple flavors (presets) to adjust the multiplier to your preferred difficulty.
Compatible with OpenMW, tested up to version 0.48.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community favorite with 3,421 endorsements and over 71k downloads—clearly a well-used mod.
  • Multiple multiplier options let you fine-tune the challenge, from a slight boost to near-infinite carry.
  • Simple and effective: no complex scripts or dependencies, just a quality-of-life improvement.

⚠️ Cons

  • No explicit mention of compatibility with the original Morrowind engine—may be OpenMW-only.
  • Last updated in May 2025, but no guarantee it works with the latest OpenMW versions beyond 0.48.
  • If you're a purist who wants the vanilla experience, this removes a core survival aspect of the game.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Morrowind players who hate the constant back-and-forth to sell loot and want to spend more time exploring. Also great for modded playthroughs where inventory weight becomes a bottleneck. Skip if you enjoy the challenge of managing encumbrance or want a more hardcore experience.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • If using OpenMW, place the mod's files in the OpenMW data directory and enable it in the launcher's content list.
  • Start with a lower multiplier like 7.5 or 10 to keep some challenge, then adjust if you find it too restrictive.
  • Check the mod's readme or forum comments for any specific load order instructions, though it likely works out of the box.
