📋 About This Mod

How it works

It's time to head inside! In the following weather types, all services offered by outdoor NPCs (travel, barter, repair, enchant, etc.) are unavailable until the weather clears.

  • []Ash storms[/]

    []Blight storms[/]

    []Thunder storms[/]

    []Blizzards[/]

Services are still offered in normal rain or snow.

The mod features a variety of NPC greetings and service refusal messages referencing the bad weather. You’re still able to speak with these NPCs about anything else.

Special exceptions

  • []Silt Strider caravaners are well versed in navigating ash storms. Both Silt and Water Striders are also not bothered by thunderstorms. They will continue to provide travel service in these weather types. Boats will not![/]

[]Obviously, all indoor services are unaffected by the weather.[/]

    New dialogue

There's a variety of new greetings and service refusal lines for all service classes, with extra weather-specific lines for travel services.

The greetings are given low priority to avoid overriding unique or quest-related dialogue.

    Compatibility

This mod will automatically cover NPCs added by mods, as long as they were assigned one of the vanilla service classes.

A Tamriel_Data add-on is available, to cover the new service classes created for Tamriel Rebuilt and the Project Tamriel province mods (bakers, jewelers, potters, etc.).  Confirmed to be compatible with the Poison Song update! Unfortunately I'm unable to add support for the custom weather types these mods introduce (sand and tropical storms).

Aside from adding new classes, mods can also add services to NPCs with a non-service class. This is sometimes done to bypass skooma trading restrictions. As a result, service refusal coverage for modded NPCs may not always be perfect.

    Recommended mods

Sorry Too Stormy was designed to work great alongside Sorry We're Closed, the nighttime variant of this mod. Load order of the two mods doesn't matter.

Weather mods like Creeping Blight and Solthas Blight Weather Pack (Weather Rebalance module) make it possible for ash and blight storms to occur in more regions.

Improved Inns Expanded will make it easier to find a place to rest for a while, until the weather clears up.

Survival mods like Ashfall, Sun's Dusk and Devilish Needs make weather conditions have more impact on your character.

Djangos Dialogue adds lots of new dialogue, some of it based on weather and time of day. My greetings will take priority over some of Djangos' greetings, to keep them consistent with the service

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

Sorry Too Stormy is an immersion mod that disables outdoor shops and services during storms, adding new weather-specific dialogue. It works automatically for most NPCs from other mods and is dialogue-based with no scripting. With 35 endorsements and 5,167 downloads, it's a niche but functional addition for players seeking realistic weather consequences.

✨ Key Features

Outdoor shops and services become unavailable during stormy weather
Adds new weather-specific dialogue for NPCs
Fully dialogue-based, no scripting involved
Works automatically for most NPCs added by other mods

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Clever concept that makes weather actually matter for shopkeepers
  • Dialogue-based approach means no script lag or conflicts
  • Auto-compatibility with other mods' NPCs is a huge plus

⚠️ Cons

  • Only 35 endorsements — niche appeal, might not be widely tested
  • No mention of which weather types are covered — could be limited to rain or snow
  • Last updated May 2026 — might not cover newer DLC or mod-added weather systems
🎯 Is This For You?
For roleplayers who want a living world where weather affects NPC behavior. If you're tired of shopkeepers standing in the rain, this adds a touch of realism. Skip if you prefer convenience over immersion.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since it's dialogue-based, make sure no other mods overwrite the same dialogue records — load order matters.
  • Test with a storm in-game to see if your favorite outdoor vendor reacts as expected.
  • If you use a weather overhaul mod, check compatibility — this might not recognize custom storm types.
