📋 About This Mod
There was once a mod, by Shalinor, which added a spell called "Fool's Recharge" to restore player's Magicka via enchanted items. Unfortunately, as far as I know, that mod is now gone, mostly because of gamespy.com not being a thing anymore. So, not being able to find a replacement for that, I constructed my own mod, which does pretty much the same thing.
This mod is very simple. It makes exactly 3 changes:
1. It edits the base cost of the "Restore Magicka" effect, so that it isn't so overpowered. That is a global change (i.e. a change to magic itself, not to particular spells), so it may break some things making use of that effect. It also makes that effect usable in spellmaking and enchanting.
2. It adds a spell called "Give Magicka". This is a little spell that one of the Apprentices of the Mages Guild came up with, which allowes to transfer some of your Magicka to someone else.
3. It adds that spell to the spell list of Estirdalin (the above-mentioned Apprentice) at Balmora Mages Guild.
Once you buy the spell, you can use the effect however you want. Casting it on yourself is not useful though, as it was with "Fool's Recharge". A better way is to enchant an item with it, basically creating a Magicka accumulator that you can drain on demand.
Restore Magicka Spell adds the Restore Magicka effect to spells and enchantments, with a high cost to prevent overpowering. A niche utility mod for Skyrim players seeking balanced magicka restoration options.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Fills a real gap—vanilla lacks this effect for spells and enchants
- Balanced design: high cost keeps it from being overpowered
- Lightweight and focused, does exactly what it says
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2016—may have compatibility issues with current Skyrim versions
- Small user base (34 endorsements) means limited community testing
For Skyrim players who want to add magicka restoration to their spell and enchantment arsenal without breaking balance. Skip if you prefer vanilla mechanics or want a more comprehensive magic overhaul.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If using a mod manager, let it handle the file placement to avoid overwriting issues.
- Check the mod's load order—place it after other magic overhauls to ensure compatibility.
- Test the spell and enchantment costs in-game to see if the balance suits your playstyle.
