📋 About This Mod
Introduction
While replaying Skyrim a couple of months ago, I noticed something that I really liked — people of Skyrim (mostly guards, of course) would sometimes talk about recent events that the Last Dragonborn took part in, such as the destruction of the Dark Brotherhood or helping Madanach escape from Cidhna Mine. I though that it would be neat if people of Morrowind did something similar. They actually do it already, to some degree — for example, NPCs talk about the events related to the main quest. And yet I thought that there was some room for improvement, and hence I decided to create this mod in the hopes to make Morrowind feel a bit more “alive”.
Description
Relevant Rumors adds new quest-based dialogue responses for the “latest rumors” topic. As you complete different quests, people around Morrowind will start talking about the related events. The rumors they give can depend on their faction or location, in most cases they might not even know about your character’s involvement, and might be hazy on the details.
The more quests you complete, the more rumors NPCs can tell you. Some rumors related to earlier quests might become overshadowed by more recent events. Not every completed quest will result in rumors though — no one cares about some Telvanni low-rank buying Sload soap to get promoted.
Disclaimer: I am not a native English speaker and I am certainly no writer. I am trying to keep the new rumors close to the style of original game, but if you do notice that something is off, please let me know!
This is a WIP mod that will be including multiple releases. With each release I hope to cover the quest line for each of the Great Houses and perhaps expand on the main quest reactions as well.

Installation
Make sure to install latest MWSE 2. 1 Development version and use the included updater.
To install the mod, either use a mod manager or copy MWSE folder and the ESP file to Data Files in your Morrowind installation. Make sure that "Relevant Rumors.esp" is enabled when you run the game.
Compatibility
OpenMW
Relevant Rumors requires the latest MWSE build with Lua support, and therefore, unfortunately, is not compatible with OpenMW at the moment.
Once Lua for OpenMW supports the APIs necessary for Relevant Rumors, I will look into creating an OpenMW-compatible v
Relevant Rumors adds quest-based 'latest rumors' to Morrowind NPCs, making the world feel more alive. As you complete quests, NPCs react and discuss related events based on factors like faction. A small but dedicated mod (96 endorsements) for players seeking deeper immersion.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Makes the world feel reactive and alive—your actions actually get noticed
- Ties into faction politics, so your reputation matters in conversations
- Small but dedicated following (96 endorsements) from players who want deeper immersion
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2021—may have compatibility issues with newer mod setups or patches
- Only adds rumors—if you're looking for gameplay changes, this won't deliver
For Morrowind veterans who've done every quest and want the world to acknowledge their deeds. Also great for roleplayers who love faction politics and reactive NPCs. Skip if you want new mechanics or combat—this is purely about dialogue immersion.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a Morrowind mod, make sure you have the Morrowind Code Patch or OpenMW for best compatibility—older mods can be finicky.
- Load order matters: place this mod after other dialogue overhauls to avoid conflicts.
- If you're using OpenMW, test in a new game or after a clean save to see the rumors trigger properly.
