📋 About This Mod

Logical Damage to the Undead (OpenMW 0. 50)

The mod classifies all undead into two main categories: Ghosts (ghosts, wraths, etc) and Physical (walking corpses, skeletons, liches, etc). Then it applies damage multipliers based on the weapon type currently equipped by the player.

Damage is dictated by common sense.

Slashing weapons excel against ethereal entities because you'd need to tear their ectoplasmic bodies. Ghosts have no flesh, bones, or internal organs to crush. Piercing weapons like spears and arrows leave only tiny puncture wounds in the ectoplasm that immediately seal up. However, broad, sweeping slashing and chopping strikes from swords and axes work completely differently. They cleave through the ghost's energy structure.

The sutuation's different with skeletal undead. They lack a functioning circulatory system and critical soft tissues. If you pierce a rotting corpse with a spear or an arrow, or leave a deep cut with a sword, it won't slow them down much. The only reliable way to put such undead back to rest is to destroy their structural integrity. That is exactly why heavy blunt weapons are the best for such a task.

The mod recognizes undead from vanilla Morrowind, Tribunal, Bloodmoon, Tamriel Rebuilt and Project Tamriel (Skyrim: Home of the Nords, Province: Cyrodiil).

All multipliers can be  adjusted in the settings.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure you're running OpenMW, not the original Morrowind executable — this mod won't work there.
  • If you're using a mod manager like MO2, just drop the mod folder in and activate it; otherwise, manually place files in your OpenMW data directory.
  • Test on a save before committing — some undead resistances may interact with other gameplay mods you have.
