📋 About This Mod

All this mod does is grant experience on failure as well as success. It does so for the following skills:

-hand to hand (missing for either fatigue or health damage)

-weapon skills (missing a swing you had the possibility of hitting)

-marksman (the projectile hits an actor, but “misses” in terms of damage)

-magic skills (failing on a spell)

-speechcraft (persuasion)

-alchemy (potion-making)

-enchant (enchanting by yourself)

-armorer (repairing by yourself)

-security (lockpick and probing, but not against entirely impossible challenges)

For each skill, the MCM lets you customize the percent (in decimal form, mind you, as with the defaults) of success XP you get. If you don't want this to apply for some skill or group, just make the value 0.

NOTE: For speechcraft, I use the native CS setting for persuasion failure. This mod's value will overwrite any found in ESPs (it is 0 by default, but some mods may change it).

-Thanks to NullCascade et al. for MWSE.

-Thanks to the MMC for general help.

-Thanks to sofiaaq for specific ideas on what skills to do this for.

-Thanks to the OpenMW team, whose formula research was invaluable for the 1. 2 changes (no XP for impossible locks/probes)

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Gives you XP for failing, so you're not totally punished for missing a spell or a swing
  • Configurable percentage means you can dial in exactly how forgiving you want it
  • Community-backed with 111 endorsements and over 2,200 downloads

⚠️ Cons

  • Requires MWSE-Lua, so you need to set that up first if you haven't
  • Last updated in 2021, so might not be compatible with the latest Morrowind patches
  • No detailed documentation on which skills are covered or how to configure it
🎯 Is This For You?
For Morrowind players who want a more forgiving skill grind, especially if you're tired of failing spells or missing hits and getting nothing. If you're a purist who thinks failure should be punished, skip this one.
