📋 About This Mod
If your anything like me then the best part of the game for you is stomping your way around morrowind stealing and looting everything that isn't nailed down. If this is the case then your also most likely frustrated that all the shop keepers in the game have like 5$ and a hand full of subway tokens to barter with. Whats the point in playing a game about a murderous kleptomaniac if everyone else is to broke to buy your "hard earned" loot? After some searching on the nexus to find a mod to remedy my issue I only came back with old mods that no longer work or new ones that also added unwanted features.
What this mod aims to do is simply make it so players no longer have to rely on creeper and the mudcrab. Almost all merchants in the base game including bloodmoon/ tribunal have had a x10 boost to the amount of barter gold they have. I say almost because a very small handful of lesser merchants (less then 10) for whatever reason were not listed in my construction set and could therefore not be altered.
This mod is made for Open mw but also has an esp version for the original game.
Simply drag and drop the mod into your morrowind data files (where morrowind.esm is) and enable it on the open mw launcher menu.
I also recommend this wonderful mod to pair with mine: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43764
More Gold For Merchants multiplies merchant bartering gold by 10 for all merchants in Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon. It supports OpenMW and includes an ESP version for the original game. A simple, popular tweak for players tired of merchants running out of gold.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 288 endorsements and 8,903 downloads—clearly a go-to for many players.
- Works across all merchants in Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon, so you don't need separate patches.
- Supports both OpenMW and the original engine, giving you flexibility depending on how you play.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in August 2023—might not be tested with the latest OpenMW versions, so watch for issues.
- Only affects gold amounts—if you wanted more balanced prices or other tweaks, this mod won't help.
For Morrowind players who hate making multiple trips to sell loot because merchants run out of gold. Also great for OpenMW users who want a simple quality-of-life boost. Skip if you're looking for a full economy overhaul—this only changes gold reserves.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you're on OpenMW, just drop the mod files into your OpenMW data folder and enable it in the launcher.
- For the original Morrowind, use the ESP version and make sure it's checked in your mod manager or Data Files.
- Since it affects all merchants, you might want to test it early to see if x10 gold feels too generous for your playstyle.
