📋 About This Mod
MHIS - MWSE
What does it do:
-> In OpenMW, when you select an item in your inventory, the Magic, Stats and Map menus automatically hide when your mouse hovers them to not obstruct your view when placing said item into the game world.
-> This MWSE mod allows that functionality to be used with the Vanilla exe.
-> There's nothing to do.
Installation:
-> Merge the "Data Files" folder inside the 7z archive with your own in Morrowind Folder (Or even better, use a mod organizer to do everything automatically for you).
Compatibility:
-> Not compatible with OpenMW. (well, not like it needs it...)
-> Not compatible with JaceyS Map and Compass.
Requirements:
Known Issues:
-> None (for now at least)
Credits:
- MMC and the MWSE team for their work.
Updates:
2. 0 : Fixed multiple bugs related to the Map, the Repair/Alchemy/Enchanting menus, and a few others script related. This version can fairly be considered "stable" — at least until some other unexpected bug comes up.
1. 2 : Fixed an issue regarding bartering and containers.
1. 1 : Fixed a line of code that was filling the mwse.log with uninterrupted errors.
Other:
-> This mod is part of my series of "Bringing OpenMW stuff into MWSE". If you're interested, you can check out the other mods of the series :

This MWSE mod for Morrowind brings OpenMW's convenience feature to the original engine: when you select an item in your inventory, the Magic, Stats, and Map menus automatically hide when your mouse hovers over them, preventing obstruction while placing items in the world. A small utility for players who frequently arrange items.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solves a real annoyance for item placement enthusiasts—no more menus blocking your view.
- Tight integration with MWSE means it's lightweight and doesn't bloat your load order.
- 98 endorsements from a niche audience shows it's appreciated by those who need it.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2022—may not be tested with the latest Morrowind patches or MWSE versions.
- Only affects inventory item selection; doesn't help with other UI obstruction scenarios.
- Requires MWSE, so OpenMW users won't need it and vanilla players must install the script extender.
For Morrowind players who love decorating their homes or carefully placing items and get annoyed when the UI blocks their view. If you're an OpenMW user, you already have this feature built-in—skip this mod. Vanilla or MWSE players who want smoother item placement will appreciate this small quality-of-life tweak.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have MWSE installed and updated—this mod won't work without it.
- If you use a mod manager like Wrye Mash or MO2, install this mod like any other MWSE lua mod; otherwise, drop the files into your Data Files folder.
- Test the feature by selecting an item in your inventory and hovering over the Magic menu—it should hide automatically.
