[]Concentration reworked into a current/max meter (full = rested, drains while meditating, regenerates passively). Regen is now willpower-scaled and tuned slightly slower than fatigue.[/]
[]Purple concentration bar in the stats window, sitting alongside health/magicka/fatigue via Stats Window Extender's API, with a tooltip. Tints from vivid to dark purple as it depletes.[/]
[]Thicker purple meditating HUD bar that mirrors the same value.[/]
[]Argonians can now meditate while swimming/submerged.[/]
[]Faster skill levelling (8× XP scale per tick) This was definitely the biggest critique of the mod lol[/]
[]I plan on adding a new animation for underwater meditation, as well as finally implementing a Vivec-like animation for high levels.[/]
This lightweight skill mod implements a progressive method of regenerating magicka via the new skill, 'Meditation'. Huge Thanks to Ralts who made the amazing Skill Framework, and to ownlyme for allowing me to adapt his breath timing UI he made for the Aquatics mod.
With Meditation, the player can press the 'I' key (completley configurable) to begin a meditative trance wherein magicka slowly regenerates. As with meditating in real life, early attempts will yield poor results that increase massively upon levelling the skill.
At low levels this will function as a minor pick-me-up, allowing the player to cast another spell or two, but by higher levels it serves as a massive resevoir of Magicka an aspirant mage can tap into.
Be wary however, for when one is meditating they cannot perform combative acts, and are much more susceptible to attacks from others.
Meditation is measured by the concentration metre, essentially a separate quantity that determines how long one can meditate. It increases with the Meditation skill.
Concetration can regenerate via waiting/resting, or in real-time, regernating based off of your Willpower level.
BRETON: +15 to starting meditation skill.
ALTMER: +10 to starting meditation skill.
DUNMER: +5 to starting meditation skill.
You could make the argument any of the races could be more or less meditative, if anyone feels another race should receive bonuses I'm open to suggestions.
Massive thanks to ownlyme for allowing me to adapt the code he made to implement the UI concentration metre into this mod. All credits to the UI element go to him.
Adds a new willpower-based skill called Meditation to OpenMW, letting players enter a trance to regenerate magicka that scales with skill level. A niche utility mod for mage builds seeking passive mana recovery, with modest community traction (55 endorsements).
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Fills a gap for mage characters who want a sustainable magicka recovery option without relying on potions or resting.
- Scales with skill level, giving a sense of progression as you invest in the skill.
- Community-tested with 55 endorsements and over 1,000 downloads, indicating it works for a niche audience.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires OpenMW, so it won't work for players using the original Morrowind engine.
- No detailed documentation or installation instructions provided by the author, which may confuse new modders.
- Last updated in June 2026, but no compatibility notes for future OpenMW versions—could break with updates.
For Morrowind players using OpenMW who want a new skill to enhance mage gameplay with passive magicka regen. Perfect for those who enjoy role-playing a meditative spellcaster. Skip if you prefer vanilla mechanics or don't use OpenMW.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you're running OpenMW, not the original Morrowind executable, as this mod is built for that engine.
- After installing, check your skills list in-game to confirm Meditation appears; if not, verify the mod is activated in your load order.
- Since it's a skill-based mod, consider pairing it with other magic-related mods for a more immersive mage experience.
