📋 About This Mod
Morrowind's mercantile mechanics and haggling are notoriously broken. No more!
Every offer is calculated based on your stats vs the merchant's, your fatigue, disposition, faction rank, and the merchant's class specialization. Haggling is a real roll, as a better mercantile skill and disposition with a merchant will allow you to actually make a successful first barter. However, greedy offers will fail outright. Regardless of the outcome, you will get an appropriate amount of mercantile xp based on how much profit you made vs the merchant.
Layered on top of this is: regional supply and demand, investment that permanently grows a merchant's gold pool, service haggling for travel, training, repair, and spell buying, pawnbroker restrictions and a higher mercantile skill-perk which allows you to trade with anyone.
Mercantile and trade gameplay overhaul. Inspired by Buying Game from MWSE.
Features
- Investment. Spend gold to permanently boost a merchant's barter gold. The maximum you can invest scales with your mercantile skill, as merchants do not give much trust to dummies. Up to +25 max disposition for total gold spent, up to 10,000 at 100 mercantile lvl. Tracked per merchant and reapplied with restocking. If using Inventory Extender, you will see an extra button on the UI. Otherwise, you will have an dialogue option when you reach the threshold. Mercantile lvl 25 by default. Fully custom UI, gamepad and controller compatible.
- Service haggling. Buying travel, training, repairs, spell buying and creating, and enchanting now have dice rolls! :) There is a haggle behind the scenes for a percentage of the cost, implemented as a refund. Successful rolls refund a percentage of the cost, whereas critical successes refund more. Critical failures will get you laughed at.
- Item value is hidden. Below a threshold (15 by default), the value of items is obscured and is instead replaced with ??? (configurable) instead of the actual gold price. Speaking with a merchant, someone knowledgeable in items, will allow you to properly see what an item is worth.
- Custom pricing formula. Offers depend on your vs the merchant's mercantile, personality, luck, fatigue, disposition, and your own faction rank. Replaces buy and sell prices live as you trade
- Real haggling. When you click "Offer" with a price the merchant does not like, the deal can and will be refused. Success chance is a stat check roll modifier by how much you are overreaching. Successful haggles award mercantile xp scaled to the size of the gap you closed.
