LOD Meshes

Description

Adds two additional lower-quality versions for all exterior meshes. These lower-quality meshes are used when the camera is far away, and get swapped in for higher-quality meshes as the camera gets closer. You will probably see pop-in as you walk around. I recommend adding noise shaders (like dither) or fog shaders to minimize that effect if you are sensitive to it.

I've seen 0 to 7+ FPS improvement in-game with this mod. Testing was done with FPS clamped to 60. It's hard to get a good baseline since FPS depends on so many factors.

Installation instructions

Add the data folders you want. These should be lower than the things they patch. Safe to install and uninstall mid-playthrough!

LOD distances are set at:

  []3500-7000 for medium quality[/]

  []7000+ for lowest quality[/]

Works on openmw, mwse, and vanilla engines.

Compatible with texture replacers, normal maps, specular maps, PBR, etc.

The ErnLODMeshes5000 variant has these LOD distances:
