📋 About This Mod
Hammer and Prongs introduces armor and weapon smithing to Morrowind through the Armorer skill. Using MWSE and The Crafting Framework, players can craft supported armors, weapons, and jewelry. Currently most vanilla items as well as those from TR Data and OAAB are supported.
The higher your Armorer skill, the higher the tier of items you can craft. For example, crafting ebony requires a high skill level, while netch leather is accessible at lower levels. As your skill increases, more items will become available in the crafting menus. Each item has specific material and tool requirements.
To begin smithing, simply approach an anvil and activate it. Smelting requires a smelter, while crafting jewelry requires purchasing and equipping a metal file. If you use Realistic Repair, Hammer and Prongs will automatically detect it and switch to using the bellows in front of the smelter for both anvil and smelter menus (this is currently the best solution; suggestions for improvement are welcome).
A key goal of Hammer and Prongs is maximum compatibility. It uses no vanilla scripting and makes no changes to existing vanilla items. However, new materials, books, and traders have been added.
The mod is designed to be modular: TR Data, OAAB, jewelry, and Daedric items are optional components. Some items are also faction specific, Legionnaire armor can only be crafted by those in the Imperial Legion and Morag Tong armor by those in the Morag Tong.
There is also an esm and two esps alongside it. The esm adds some custom materials and items and is required, while the one esp integrates them into the game via new traders. The other esp adds the materials to existing traders and leveled lists. They can be used together or individually. You are free to make add-ons for the esm as you wish.
To add additional mod files, place them in the respective mod folders. For example, added armor should go into MWSE -> mods -> Syanide -> HammerAndProngs -> Armor -> Mods.
Support for other mods is easy and encouraged. Mod authors should consult the Mod Authors article. Level requirements are also present in the article.
NOT compatible with OpenMW.
I highly recommend that you play with some form of OAAB and Tamriel_data content integration. Many of the materials will be hard to obtain without it.
There is a patch for the added glass material and Glass Glowset.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Brings a new crafting dimension to Morrowind, letting you use Armorer for more than repairs.
- Integrates with The Crafting Framework, so it fits into a larger modding ecosystem.
- Recently updated (June 2026), so it's likely compatible with current MWSE builds.
⚠️ Cons
- Low endorsement count (36) means it's not widely tested by the community.
- Requires MWSE and The Crafting Framework, adding setup complexity.
- Description is cut off, so the full list of supported items is unclear.
For Morrowind players who want a deeper crafting experience and enjoy using the Armorer skill beyond repairs. If you're already using The Crafting Framework, this is a natural addition. Skip if you prefer vanilla crafting or don't want to deal with MWSE dependencies.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have MWSE installed and running, as this mod won't work without it.
- Install The Crafting Framework first, then Hammer and Prongs, and check load order.
- Use a mod manager like Wrye Mash or Mod Organizer 2 to keep track of dependencies.
