📋 About This Mod
a set of normalmaps based on flash's intelligent textures. textures were handpainted before being used to generate normalmaps, then resized and compressed to minimize disk and VRAM usage.
this mod is compatible with vanilla textures, but the Intelligent Textures mod is recommended.
this mod is technically compatible with vanilla morrowind, but doesn't currently include any meshes, and without them it has no effect in vanilla. the mod is plug and play for OpenMW.
this release includes the full set and shield and tower shield, but let me know if i missed anything.
make sure you have normalmaps enabled in settings.cfg
auto use object normal maps = true
auto use terrain normal maps = true
recommended to use with Subtle Magic Glow https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/4468
if you enjoy the mod please leave screenshots, as i would rather work on more mods than take screenshots of my own.
please report any issues in the bug tracker. if this release goes well, and windows stops being a brokedick PoS i will probably release the royal guard armor next.
A set of normalmaps for the vanilla Ebony armor and shields in Morrowind, designed for OpenMW. Adds visual depth to the original models. Small niche mod with 24 endorsements, last updated in 2020.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Gives the vanilla Ebony armor a subtle visual upgrade without changing the classic look
- Works with OpenMW, which is great for modern Morrowind players
- Lightweight and simple—just drop in the files and go
⚠️ Cons
- Only covers Ebony armor and shields—no other armor types
- Last updated in 2020, so it might not be tested with the latest OpenMW versions
- Small community (24 endorsements) means less feedback and support
For Morrowind players using OpenMW who want a bit more visual depth in their Ebony gear without overhauling the game's look. Skip if you're playing the original Morrowind engine or want changes to other armor sets.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you're using OpenMW, as this mod is built for that engine—it won't work with the original Morrowind executable.
- Place the files in your OpenMW data directory, typically 'Data Files' or a mod folder you've set up in the OpenMW launcher.
- If you're using a mod manager like Mod Organizer 2, you can install it as a regular mod and enable it for your OpenMW profile.
