DXVK - Vulkan Translation Layer for Morrowind and MGE XE

Not compatible with OpenMW! Vanilla engine only!

Also MGE XE G7 Fork includes a custom version of DXVK already. So you don't need this with it. :)

Description

DXVK is a Vulkan-based translation layer for Direct3D 9/10/11 games. Specifically, this is an unofficial repackage of the DLL for Morrowind. May improve frame timings/stutter and slightly uplift general performance for some PCs. Your mileage may vary.

I'm unaffiliated with the DXVK project, not a programmer, and not someone who can fix issues.

  Install & Uninstall

  • []Install MGE XE like usual.[/]

    []Download the DXVK file you intend to use from the files tab.[/]

    []Extract the "d3d9.dll" file to same folder as your Morrowind EXE, i.e. Steam\steamapps\common\Morrowind.[/]

    [](Optional) Extract the "dxvk.conf" file as well, to the same place. It contains a tweak to reduce latency.[/]

    [](Optional) (Reshade users only.) Re-run the Reshade installer and set the API as Vulkan.[/]

    For further performance gains, you can try Dynamic FPS Optimization to dynamically lower draw distance based on your current frame rate, and/or Masked Software Occlusion Culling for skipping the rendering objects you can't see, in order to save on draw calls.

    To uninstall, simply delete the D3D9. DLL and DXVK. CONF. Safe to add or remove anytime, and has no lasting effect on game saves or files.
