dream-ini

dream-ini is a modern Morrowind.ini to OpenMW config importer.

It helps convert classic Morrowind settings into an OpenMW-style configuration, with a GUI, controller support, CLI support, and portable-device friendly builds.

The goal is simple: make the old setup step clearer, safer, and easier to use.

  Why use this instead of OpenMW's original INI importer?

  OpenMW's original importer is useful, but it is mostly a classic command-line migration tool.

      Basic CLI usage

      dream-ini --ini Morrowind.ini > openmw.cfg

      dream-ini --ini Morrowind.ini --cfg openmw.cfg > preview.cfg

      dream-ini --ini Morrowind.ini --cfg openmw.cfg --in-place

      dream-ini --ini Morrowind.ini --output imported.cfgGUI usage

      Run dream-ini without arguments to open the GUI on supported desktop builds.

      From there, choose your Morrowind.ini, optionally choose an existing openmw.cfg, select the import options you want, preview the result, then save or update the config.

      Controller navigation is supported, including D-pad/stick movement, face buttons, shoulders, and Start/Select-style actions.

      Portable and PortMaster builds

      For Linux portable devices, dream-ini includes a framebuffer GUI using a custom optimized software renderer.
