📋 About This Mod
ESP-less, MWSE-based permanent solution to height variability.
All the other height changing mods that I could find don't scratch the itch for me - some are dated, some have weird features and most of them throw an extra .esp in my mangled load order. That aside, one slight of hand when sorting and whatever it is that so much as sneezed in the general direction of race params overwrites the height changes. No more!
Main features
- player-only height controls
No more setscale-ing - camera sticks to 1. 0 anyway. Now you can properly set the height of your character, adjust the eye level of camera in 1stp or 3rdp AND tweak the sneak camera height too.
- introduced intra-racial variability
What I dislike about the old mods is that they make all, say, orcs come in a scale of 1. 05. This mod allows to set dynamic range of heights between 10 and 250% of the default value. You can have short orcs. And tall orcs, too. And not only orcs - this works the same for all races. How short or tall - you decide.
- NPC-specific tweaks
Setting race-wide height params not enough for you? You can also set very specific height to a very specific NPC. Make Tarhiel disappear. Make Fargoth tower over the roof of Arrille's. The sky is the limit, literally.
- support for children
Thanks to RoeCoccoa, the mod now supports Children of Morrowind, which are, turns out, just some more races.
- consistent and persisting changes
Game engine resets everything every now and then. This time it won't though - the height changes apply ONCE and STAY there until you apply new parameters or delete the config altogether.
- robust logic, for any race
The mod should stay functioning no matter what races or NPCs you have in your build. It caches and updates its config automatically, and only once you actually install something. All races are supported by default.
- immediate effect
NPCs in your cell will immediately adopt new height parameters, if set per race. Each time you press "Apply" the game will roll a dice for each valid NPC and update the config. You only have to relaunch if you had installed a new mod that adds NPC or races.
You will have to restart the game after initial load - the mod will build and update its config from your game data.
This will happen each time you install mods that add new races or NPCs. You can just play while it does its thing though.
Depending on your system and game build, some lagging and stuttering may occur during the update. If it will lag too much, open main.lua and lower chunk size here:
local chunk, counter = 50, 0to:
local chunk, counter = 5, 0or lower. Crank it up higher if you'd rather have it done fast, but be wary - this may freeze the game for 2-3 minutes entirely.
Compatibility
350+ mods of my load order that I won't bother listing. Should be compatible with everything.
If there are issues, lemme know.
