📋 About This Mod

Revamps Master Rank hitzone values and removes wounding

Ever since Iceborne's release, I have severely detested the overemphasis on the clutch claw in

terms of balance. Today I finally succeeded in altering monster hitzone values to make the process of wounding for the purpose of DPS increase obsolete.

What exactly does this mean and what does this mod do?

This mod, in most monster cases, takes most hitzones with a value of 45 or higher (the base threshold for a part to be considered "weak" for weakness exploit to activate), and applies the wounding formula, which is Hitzone + ((100 - Hitzone) * 0. 25). A hitzone of 45 becomes 58, a hitzone of 55 becomes 66 etc. There's a few exceptions, for example cases where a monster only has 1 weak hitzone. In these situations I took the liberty of applying a wounding formula offset to the 2nd weakest hitzone even if it's below 45, to strike a healthy balance of body parts to target.

In short, you do more damage to most weak hitzones without having to wound them anymore. You now no longer have to deal with the arbitrary debuffing minigame of the clutch claw to get properly rewarded for hitting your target's weak spots.

For a full list of affected hitzones, look here. For Safi'jiiva's affected hitzones, look here.

This comes with a few downsides

In some cases, I had to adjust values that will also effect Low Rank/High rank. It is therefore not suggested to install this mod before you've reached Master Rank. I don't have a workaround for this as of writing this. It's not a huge gamebreaker, it'll just mean your damage on some low/high rank monsters will be a little higher for no reason. You would still able to get these damage values if you'd to use the clutch claw on LR/HR, but many LR/HR players will not have Iceborne purchased yet. In short, it's a straight damage buff to people who don't own Iceborne, but why would you even install this if you don't have Iceborne?

There is also the matter of monsters with armored body parts where breaking them is vital to the success of the hunt, such as Metal Rath heads. Until I find a way to adjust the formulae of wounding, the better option than none is to have wounding turned off altogether and have these fights become much harder.

How does this affect multiplayer? Can I play with people who don't have this mod installed?

This doesn't cause any crashes whatsoever, and it will only affect your own damage. Do note that other players will be able to wound which will still affect your damage, so this mod is best suited for single player or coop with people you know and are all running this mod.
