📋 About This Mod

A simple mod to enable dynamic wet-related dithering of armor materials, effectively making them see-through.

========== Installation ==========

  • []Download the mod like you would do with any other mod[/]

    []Enable it in Fluffy Mod Manager (it is called Simple Transparency)[/]

    ========== Principle ==========

    Your armor pieces are defined in .mesh ("armor shape") and .mdf2 ("armor materials, texture") files. Each armor part has an associated material and this mod enables you to make them wet and dithered, effectively making them see-through. For each armor material, you can select between the dry and wet types (more on that below). The mod keeps track of a global wetness value that is then used in conjunction with your defined params to apply visual modifications to your armor parts. The mod influences the float IDs 93 (UseTempDither), 102 (Dissolve) and 103 (WetBlend).

    ========== Params setup ==========

    For each material, setting its type to dry will make it so that the wetness value has no impact on it. If you set it to wet, then you can set 2 parameters: the minimum Dissolve and the maximum WetBlend. The higher the WetBlend, the more wet your armor material (0 = dry, no theoretical max value), and the lower the Dissolve, the more dithered ("transparent") your armor piece (1 = no dithering, 0 = completely invisible).

    On each event check period, the mod computes the ratio of the current wetness divided by your max. wetness, and uses this ratio to dynamically update the WetBlend and Dissolve values of all you materials with the wet type: the closer the ratio is to 1 (approaching max. wetness), the closer the Dissolve will be to your defined min. Dissolve and the closer the WetBlend to your max. WetBlend.

    ========== Link to Dynamic Sweat System ==========

    The Dynamic Sweat System changes the WetBlend value of skin materials (ID 53) based on your actions. Because the REFSKIN_tint mod enables some skin attributes to be added back, I chose to fetch the modified WetBlend value from the first material that contains "REFSKIN" in its name when iterating over them, so if you want to link this mod to Dynamic Sweat System, please ensure that your armor mod has at least 1 material with "REFSKIN" in its name. Also, because this mod is not made to work on skin materials, all materials having "REFSKIN" in their name won't be displayed in the param editor!

    IMPORTANT

    The Dynamic Sweat System mod does not impact materials with "REFSKIN" in their name by default. I opened a feature request on the mod to allow it, in the meantime please change line 1046 of the mod present in "...\MonsterHunterWilds\reframework\autorun\SweatSystem.lua" by adding:

    [...]or string.find(mat_name, "REFSKIN")[...]to the conditions already present.
