📋 About This Mod

Makes the descriptions of attacks, genes, status effects, egg powers, and items show exact numbers instead of vague descriptions.

Overview

This mod will change the descriptions of attacks, genes, status effects, egg powers, and items to show exact numbers instead of vague descriptions. It's nice to know that something has a 70% chance rather than just a "high" chance or that damage is increased by 15% instead of just "greatly".

I still need to add attack descriptions for weapons but I'm not sure if I'll do it. The weapon attacks are more complex than monster attacks and the numbers I'm seeing in the game files are inconsistent and confusing. It will require a lot of testing for me to determine how exactly these attack work. Plus, some weapon attacks already use most of the available space for the description and I'm not sure if I will have enough space to make the descriptions more detailed.

Some descriptions are missing some information on purpose. This is because I haven't found the numbers in the game files.

This mod will only change the English descriptions. I only speak English so obviously I can't update the other languages.

Speed

Most attacks will use the user's speed to determine action order. However, some attacks have a set speed value that will be used regardless of the user's speed. While using this mod, any attack that ignores the user's speed will have the speed value of the attack at the end of the description.

The higher the speed, the more likely it is to go first. So if an attack has 2 speed, it is likely to go last. If an attack has 16 speed, it is likely to go first. Kinship attacks have 17 speed. Using an item has 18 speed. Any bracing or guarding skill has 19 speed.

Understanding Ailment Chances and Resistanc

es

Each attack that can inflict an ailment, such as poison, has a certain chance to successfully apply the affliction. With this mod the chance to apply the affliction is displayed in each attack's description. However, this is not the actual final chance.

Every enemy has a resistance to each ailment that can modify the attack's base chance of inflicting the ailment.

The table below shows a multiplier for each level of resistance.

The base chance is multiplied by the resistance of the enemy for that ailment. So if an attack has a 50% chance to inflict poison and the enemy has 1 down arrow for poison, then the base 50% is multiplied by 70% which makes it a 35% chance.

Since 2 up arrows is 0%, this makes applying that ailment impossible and 2 down arrows (100%) means the chance is equal to the base chance listed in the description.

There is one more modifier that can be applied to your chance to inflict an ailment, which is the number of times you have already inflicted that ailment. Each time you inflict an ailment on the enemy, your chance to inflict that same ailment again is decreased.

The table below shows the multiplier for the amount of times you have already inflicted that ailment.

The chance you have after calculating the enemy's resistance will be further modified by the number of times you have already inflicted that ailment. So your chance from the previous example, which was 35%, will be reduced to 31. 5% (90% of 35) if you already inflicted poison 1 time before. Your chance can't be reduced below 5%.

The table below shows an example of different scenarios.

If you have Inflict Rate Up, add it's effect to the base chance before doing any of the above. In the example above, Inflict Rate Up (XL) would add 30% to the base which would make it 80% base chance. I'm not 100% sure this is how it works, but it is most likely correct.
