Simply right click a mob with a Totem Of Undying in your main hand to activate the Totem on them. They will start to emit particles, showing that the Totem is enabled. Now when the Mob is about to die, the Totem will activate and cancel out their death and also briefly give them Regeneration 3, Resistance 3 and Fire Resistance. Very useful for your Dog for example, but it works on any Mob you want, including Monsters.</p> <p><strong>Technical Information: </strong>When you give a Totem of Undying to a Mob, it won't give them the actual Totem, but instead it toggles a Mob Attribute, so it doesn't conflict with mechanics mobs that have any functionality with items. It also shouldn't conflict with any mod that changes the code of mobs.
