# Cheaper Utensils ## What is this Cheaper Utensils is a simple, lightweight Minecraft datapack that makes some underrated items more accessible, to be more worth using. If you feel like the vanilla material costs for basic utility tools (that are moslty useless most of the time) are a bit too expensive early on, this pack offers a balanced alternative to save your resources. ## Why is this I loves clocks and compasses in Minecraft, but most people thinks they're useless. By making them cheaper I'm hoping to reduce the slander. Also one of the most downloaded mods are maps mods, like minimaps. But minecraft already have maps that are way more cool and immersive but people don't use them.. so maybe if they were cheaper people would use them. The reason I updated the recipe for the recovery compass as well is because this I made this pack for my own personnal modpack (which is very cool btw, I tried to upload it here but since I made it on prism launcher it seems there some problems I can't upload it here, I'm sorry you will never be able to enjoy this masterpiece), and in my modpack the echo shard are now very useful and wasting 8 of them on a recovery compass which are 99% useless in my modpack was not a good trade. Even in vanilla I think the recovery compass should be more accesible so win win. ## Modified Recipes This datapack overrides the default crafting recipes to reduce the material cost for the following items: - Clock !(https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/IQt1gd9a/images/a9893324ff875eae0d8033901fd41e6e404a2331.png) - Compass !(https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/IQt1gd9a/images/af9746edd61afc2f83bf1e1a2d3bf473fc33c1af.png) - Recovery Compass !(https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/IQt1gd9a/images/8484bd490bb36eec7c7702a13163b22d61322d92.png) - Map !(https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/IQt1gd9a/images/41eccd3544dd759dd842f79e05939a5fbdade081.gif) ## Supported Versions: TLDR: only 1.21.11 officially but should work from 1.19 to 1.21.x For now I have only tested 1.21.11 as it's the game version I'm playing but it should be fully compatible with Minecraft 1.19 through 1.21.x, that's why I uploaded another pack version in 'alpha' for all those game versions so you can download it and try for yourself. I'm gonna tried a few game versions myself and if it works I will add them to the 'release' pack version. ## Installation: Simply drop the cheaperutensils.zip file into your world's datapacks folder or download the mod version. /!\ Beware: If you notice in-game that some of the recipes don't work (they're still the vanilla ones), try using the datapack version instead of the mod. The issue is likely due to the load-order, another mod is probably overriding my recipes. Datapacks load after mods, so this fixes the problem.
