Overview

Some people wanted to see how the save files were modified, so I decided to make them public. The website still uses Python scripts, so I'm releasing the Python code directly.

With this editor, you can:

Cat Management

- View all your cats in one place with detailed information

- Edit cat names, age, and levels

- Modify stats (STR, DEX, CON, INT, SPD, CHA, LUCK)

- Change abilities and skills

- View and manage mutations

- Check which room each cat is in

Inventory Management

- Edit gold and food amounts

- Manage furniture inventory

- View placed and stored items

Save Analysis

- Compare different save files to see what changed

- Export save data to JSON for backup or analysis

- Verify save file integrity

How to Use

Installation

pip install lz4

View save file info:

python mewgenics_save_tool.py parse save_file.sav

List all cats:

python mewgenics_save_tool.py list save_file.sav

Modify gold and food:

python mewgenics_save_tool.py modify save_file.sav --gold 9999 --food 999

Change a cat's age:

python mewgenics_save_tool.py modify save_file.sav --cat 123 --age 50

Export to JSON:

python mewgenics_save_tool.py export save_file.sav --output backup.json

Interactive mode:

python mewgenics_save_tool.py interactive save_file.sav

Save File Location

C:\Users\\AppData\Local\TeamMeowFork\MewGenics\save_file.sav

Important Notes

Always backup your save files before editing!

1. Make a copy of your `save_file.sav` before making any changes

2. The game should be closed when editing save files

3. Some values may have game-imposed limits

4. Certain modifications might affect game balance

Troubleshooting

Cat list appears empty or incomplete

- Try using the web editor which has better error handling

- Some cats might be on adventure or in special states

Changes not appearing in game

- Ensure the game is completely closed before editing

- Verify you're replacing the correct file

- Try reloading the save in the editor to confirm changes were saved

Web editor not loading

- The web editor works best in Chrome, Firefox, or Edge

- Disable ad blockers if the page doesn't load properly

- Try clearing your browser cache
