📋 About This Mod
Allows cats to rarely inherit upgraded actives and passives and/or to inherit one passive from each parent, scaled. Uses simplified Punnett Square logic.
Main features
This mod adds an additional layer of complexity to cat breeding by allowing kittens to rarely inherit their parents' upgraded passives and actives. Kittens can now also inherit two passives of which will not be replaced during collar selection.
REQUIRED: Mewtator and Mewjector.
Install this mod by dragging file into 'mods' folder in Mewtator.
The Logic and Math
While I say it uses the Punnett Square model, that wouldn't be exactly correct. Punnett Square models are usually for indicating recessive and dominant alleles and predicting chance outcomes for identical children. Basically, in a Punnett Square, recessive alleles only express their phenotype in the absence of dominant alleles. In this mod's case, all alleles (as in inheritable traits) are dominant. The reason for doing this is so that a kitten must be a mix of its previous generation.
The long and short of it is that a kitten's inheritance, given that it does inherit multiple passives, cannot align with only one parent. If Parent A has traits 1;2 and Parent B has traits 3;4, the kitten cannot be born with traits 1;2 or 3;4. It must be born with traits 1;3, 1;4, 2;3, or 2;4. In the case of a shared Parent allele, if the kitten rolls and gets a 1;1, they will not receive a duplicated passive. Instead, if Parent A and Parent B both have an upgraded trait of 1, the kitten will be allowed to roll twice for the upgraded version. This is so that we don't completely disable functionality between identical-trait parents and so that kittens cannot receive duplicated traits, which can only happen during active battle through Beepis or Skill-Share.
Isn't this overpowered, though? Or at least unbalanced?
Well, yeah, but whatever.
Still, I tried my best to seamlessly integrate this functionality into the game by ensuring that the chances of Dynast inheritance stay low. The basic equation is Chance = max(0, BaseChance+Stimulation / Divisor) / (1 + InbredCoefficient). Every calculation has different variables, easily modifiable in the .ini. For the purposes of shorthand, BaseChance is now B and Divisor is now D.
The defaults are:
- Upgraded Active: B = 5, D = 3.
- Additional Passive: B = 6, D = 2.
- Upgraded Passive: B = 2, D = 3.
