Description

Tired of your favourite squad leader out of nowhere developing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Tired of getting softlocked into an early-game operation because your squad leaders skipped sleep to play WoW and now they cannot fight? Tired of just being tired?

Well, this mod is for YOU.

Operational Stand-Down adds a configurable STAND DOWN action to the system map, giving your roster a way to recover without forcing you into a doomed mission just because everyone on the ship forgot what a bed is.

When used, Stand Down gives hired squad leaders 2 recovery mission ticks, advances available operation timers by 2 ticks, and costs 10 Authority.

The black market does not reset. This is deliberate, because the mod is meant to help with exhaustion softlocks and general obnoxious, not become an infinite shopping-trip simulator.

By default, Stand Down:

- costs 10 Authority

- gives hired squad leaders 2 non-deployment recovery ticks

- advances available operation timers by 2 ticks

- fails and refreshes operations that time out naturally

- cannot be used during an active operation

- does not reduce scripted story/event unavailability

This is intended as a campaign pacing and quality-of-life mod. It does not grant mission rewards, fake victories, or bypass scripted leader absences. It just gives your squad leaders a military-approved chance to stop wheezing into their helmets.

Instructions

1. Download the mod file.

2. Find your MENACE game folder.

This is the folder that has Menace.exe inside it.

3. Open the Mods folder inside your MENACE game folder.

If you installed MENACE Modkit correctly, this folder should exist.

4. Open the downloaded .zip file.

5. Drag the MenaceOperationalStandDown-modpack folder from the zip into your MENACE Mods folder.

Yes, drag the whole MenaceOperationalStandDown-modpack folder.

6. When you are done, the mod files should be here:

MENACE/Mods/MenaceOperationalStandDown-modpack/modpack.json

MENACE/Mods/MenaceOperationalStandDown-modpack/dlls/MenaceOperationalStandDown.dll

7. Start the game.

8. Open the system map.

9. Look for the STAND DOWN button.

If you see the button, congratulations. Your squad leaders may now discover the ancient military technology known as sleep.

If the button does not show up, use Ctrl+F9 on the system map.

If It Does Not Work

Check these things:

- Did you install MENACE Modkit / MelonLoader / Menace ModpackLoader first?

- Is Menace. ModpackLoader.dll inside MENACE/Mods/?

- Did you put the modpack folder inside MENACE/Mods/?

- Is modpack.json actually here?

MENACE/Mods/MenaceOperationalStandDown-modpack/modpack.json

- Is the .dll actually here?

MENACE/Mods/MenaceOperationalStandDown-modpack/dlls/MenaceOperationalStandDown.dll

- Did you accidentally put the zip inside the game folder without extracting it?

- Did you accidentally install the BepInEx version and the MelonLoader version together?

- Did you install it into the wrong MENACE folder?

The most common mistake is ending up with something like this:

MENACE/Mods/MenaceOperationalStandDown-modpack/MenaceOperationalStandDown-modpack/modpack.json

That is wrong.

Another wrong one:

MENACE/MenaceOperationalStandDown-modpack/modpack.json

That is also wrong.

You want this:

MENACE/Mods/MenaceOperationalStandDown-modpack/modpack.json

MENACE/Mods/MenaceOperationalStandDown-modpack/dlls/MenaceOperationalStandDown.dll

1. Close MENACE.

2. Open your MENACE Mods folder.

3. Delete the MenaceOperationalStandDown-modpack folder.

That is it.

If something goes wrong:

If you cannot find the Mods folder, MENACE Modkit / MelonLoader / Menace ModpackLoader is probably not installed yet.
