📋 About This Mod
A small diagnostics layer for my mods. Everything stays on your machine.
Description
Vixen Core is a diagnostics companion for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, built on UE4SS. I built it to see what my own mods were actually doing under the hood, and it grew into something worth sharing. While you play, it watches match, contract, and mech state and writes what it sees to local JSON files next to itself: which faction generated a contract, what enemies spawned and where, health and heat and loadout over time, what your mod options are actually set to.
It changes nothing. Every hook it installs is read-only. It observes; it never writes a value back. Combat, spawns, rewards, and balance are untouched by installing this mod.
Everything stays on your machine. There is no network code in this mod. It writes plain JSON to its own out/ folder and nowhere else. Delete the files whenever you like. Delete the whole mod folder and every trace of it is gone.
Why install it: if something breaks, attach the log and I can actually see what happened instead of both of us guessing. A support bundle with real telemetry in it turns "it's broken, please help" into a bug report I can act on. It's also just a window into what your mod list is doing under the menus, bug or no bug.
Agnostic by design. Vixen Core never assumes any specific mod exists on your install. It captures the full contents of the game's own Game.ini (every section, every mod, not a hand-picked list) so any Mod-Options-integrated mod's settings show up automatically. If Vixen Arena (or anything else) isn't installed, that section simply isn't there. Nothing breaks, nothing is guessed.
What it captures
- Match and contract generation: which generator ran, the contract's faction and variant data, employer and opponent info, reward and salvage terms.
- Live roster: every mech, vehicle, turret, and VTOL the mod observes, with chassis, variant, tonnage, weight class, team, faction (best effort, see Known Limitations), health per location, heat, position, and where available loadout, weapon, and ammo state.
- Match lifecycle events (map load, game state init) and a post-mission summary (rewards, salvage, pilot records) when one is available.
- Mod Options values, for this mod family and any other Mod-Options-integrated mods installed: a snapshot of every section in the game's own Game.ini at session start, plus live capture of every settings change the moment Apply is hit.
Every field the mod can't confirm is labeled honestly rather than guessed.
- out/snapshot.json: a rolling snapshot of current match/world state, rewritten roughly twice a second while a match is active.
- out/events.jsonl: an append-only log of hook firings, state changes, settings flips, and lifecycle events, one JSON object per line.
- out/pawnclass_dump.txt: a one-time-per-class reflection dump, useful for anyone who wants to see what properties exist on a given me
