📋 About This Mod

Assets are uniquely named, so you can run together, but I'd recommend switching over to the YAISM version (STRIP ANY YOU MAY HAVE PRIOR TO DEACTIVATING THIS ONE, IT WILL DISAPPEAR)
Decided to have a crack at making a mech. Settled on the Rifleman III, for some reason. Based from a rescale of the standard Rifleman, utilising the YAML mod suite to bring it to life!
For those unfamiliar with this absurdity, the usurper Stefan Amaris, while he was ruining the Star League in 2776, decided he wanted some fancy mechs. Some didn't work, others did function. The Rifleman III was once such mech. The RF-2A was an upsized Rifleman, weighing in at 90 Star League tons, and sporting four gauss rifles, as well as the Null Signature System (NSS) stealth system - at the cost of very mediocre armour, a truly miserable XL180 engine (you aren't overtaking that urbie) and a sparse two tons of ammunition, as well as no backup weapon systems to fall back on.
Despite these shortcomings, as well as being a prototype rushed onto the battlefield, it performed exceptionally well, recording 9 kills of SLDF BattleMechs before being destoyed.
Requires YAML.
Thanks to cszolee79 and trueg for YAML, and trueg again for the tutorials that made it possible for me to put this mod together at all.
Also thanks mace and jackalope for the mech database stuff, and deadraiser for the paintjob help.
Adds the Rifleman III, a BattleMech from the Amaris Civil War era, as a standalone unit for MechWarrior 5 with YAML. The author recommends the YAISM version instead, but this standalone option is available for players who prefer it. With 82 endorsements and 2,285 downloads, it's a niche but functional mech mod.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Decent traction with 82 endorsements and over 2,200 downloads — enough to show it works for people.
- Standalone means you don't need to juggle extra mods just to get this mech in your game.
- It's a lore-flavored pick for Amaris Civil War fans who want something different from the usual Rifleman.
⚠️ Cons
- Author explicitly recommends the YAISM version over this one, so you're getting the 'less preferred' variant.
- Only 82 endorsements — it's a niche mod, so don't expect a ton of community support or updates.
For MechWarrior 5 players who want a piece of Amaris Civil War history in their mech bay without installing YAISM. If you're already running YAISM, skip this and grab the recommended version instead. Casual mech collectors will enjoy the variety, but hardcore min-maxers might find it lacking.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a standalone mod, just drop the files into your Mods folder and enable it in the mod menu — no extra dependencies needed.
- If you're using YAML, make sure this mod is compatible with your current YAML version, as mech mods can break after updates.
- Check the mod's page for any patches or updates if you're on a newer game version, since it hasn't been updated since October 2024.
