Portrait Pools Corrected (PPC)

This is my first published mod, representing over a year of development and database correction. The goal of this project is to fix the severe lack of consistency, technical errors, and immersion-breaking character assignments found in the vanilla game, replacing them with lore-accurate, photorealistic portraits based on the official BattleTech novels and sourcebooks.

Compatible with DLC8. 

What has been done

Mission Asset Audit:

Reviewed all mission assets to correct flawed Persona and Employer configurations.

Dialogue File Correction:

Audited every single dialogue file in the game to fix broken Persona references.

Persona Asset Overhaul: 

Standardized and fixed database tags, portrait links, dialogue assignments, and texture paths within all Persona files.

Portrait & Texture Remaking: 

Replaced existing vanilla textures with new, photorealistic character portraits. Characters are modeled directly after official book descriptions, age, ethnicity, and their corresponding voice lines.

Expanded Asset Variety: 

Created and integrated between 300 and 400 completely new character textures to stop the game from constantly recycling the same few vanilla faces.

Lore-Accurate Attire (SFW / Mature Note): Character clothing strictly adheres to BattleTech lore. Because MechWarriors operate under extreme cockpit heat, their attire is historically sparse (cooling vests, minimal clothing). The mod remains strictly SFW, but features realistic, occasionally spicy portraits true to the setting.

Current Limitations & Future Plans

• []New Campaign Required: This mod only functions error-free if you start a New Campaign or Career. Ongoing save games will likely experience broken portrait references.[/]

  []DLC Specific Starts: The custom starting scenarios introduced by specific DLCs have not yet been audited or adjusted.[/]

  []Multiplayer / Co-op: Multiplayer functionality has not been tested or altered.[/]

  []Next Version Enhancements: Due to advancing AI tools during the year of development (transitioning from early Flux builds to higher-tier Flux models), image quality varies slightly. Future versions will standardize all assets to the highest quality tier and further differentiate characters that still look too similar.[/]

  Installation instructions

  For manual installation:

  1. Extract the downloaded ZIP archive.

  2. Move the "LoreAccuratePortraitsOverhaul" folder into your MW5 Mods directory.
