Description

Mech Mapper is a lightweight, high-performance utility designed to bridge the gap between joysticks/HOTAS setups and games that require keyboard inputs for specific functions.

Originally built for MechWarrior 5, this tool allows you to map physical joystick axes, buttons, and hats to virtually any keyboard key. It uses low-level hardware-based input injection (SendInput), ensuring that your key presses are detected by DirectX applications that often ignore standard "virtual keyboard" software.

Installation Instructions

Download: Download the latest MechMapper.zip from the "Files" tab.

Extract: Extract the MechMapper.exe to a folder of your choice (e.g., C:\Games\Utilities\MechMapper\).

Run: Launch MechMapper.exe.

Configure: Use the UI to select your joystick, map your preferred keys, and click Enable.

Enjoy: Keep the app running in the background while you play.

Requirements

ViGEmBus Driver: To simulate virtual controllers, ensure you have the ViGEmBus driver installed on your system.

Windows 10/11: This utility uses specific Windows API calls for hardware input and is not compatible with Linux or macOS.

vgamepad: For providing the framework that makes virtual controller communication possible.

pygame-ce: For the core input handling and joystick polling capabilities.
