📋 About This Mod
Low Tonnage High Difficulty Missions Mod Redone from scratch to maximize compatibility. Compatible with YAML, vonBiomes, etc. Original mod by Fitzbattleaxe
First of all, i wanna thank Fitzbattleaxe for uploading the sources of his Low Tonnage High Difficulty Missions mod and explaining how it works. I'm a big fan of this mod because it decouples difficulty from tonnage, allowing for much more variety of missions and utilizing whole roster of tonnage even on full blown 100 missions.
Unfortunately that mod is incompatible with plethora of other mods because it overrides a lot of files and required updates after each DLC release. My goal was to reimplement its functionality in the least intrusive way possible and I think I got it. It follows original mod decision on picking drop tonnage and enemy battle values but minimizes changes to existing files by storing extra data in its own actor with savegame support
I decided to change only ordinary generated missions and exclude Arena, Multiple Mission contracts and custom authored missions for several reasons, apart from technical ones:
[]Multiple missions are hard and require a lot of mechs, so decreasing drop tonnage will increase active mech roster significantly. For smaller rosters players will naturally select lower ton mechs on some missions in a contract if main ones got damaged beyond in-time repair[/]
[]Arena missions are all with custom weights and they are processed by another mod[/]
[]Handcrafted mission arcs have own intentions to use their weights, changing them will be too intrusive for og authors intents[/]
[]Instant action is useful for generally testing loadouts on specific difficulties
The mod retains its original Mod Options.
" The tonnage bias slider controls how likely lower weight missions are to spawn. At 0. 1, you'll get mostly low weight missions, and at 10 you'll get mostly high weight missions. The difficulty slider, as you'd imagine, relates to difficulty. At 0, the amount and type of enemy units will be the same as a low difficulty mission of the same tonnage - they'll just have better pilots and higher tier weapons. At 1, the amount and type of enemy units will be the same as whatever you'd get in a max tonnage mission of the same difficulty - that is, you'll have a lower drop limit, but the enemy will not. Values in between take an average."
Test it out and have fun.
