📋 About This Mod

Please review Changelogs for updates. Description below is original overview.

Atomic Paint Scheme Redux for Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries updates most of the faction paint schemes. The goal is to either make them better match existing canon schemes, or change the colors entirely, in order to resemble different units. Others factions have simply been assigned different stock paint schemes, without color changes. These various changes affect NPC spawns, as well as what is available to the Player (Database, Mech Market, Painter). I created all these alterations with the in-game painter, before implementing them in the mod editor.

Whenever possible, I referenced Camo Specs Online, Unit Color Compendium, and Sarna.net to find proper examples of appearance and context for these changes.

Updated paint schemes:

- Default: Now a single color - olive drab. Is it SLDF olive drab? Perhaps. Since many people in the Battletech universe are always pining for the "good old days" of the Star League (except in the Periphery), I imagine they sometimes incorporate its aesthetics to feel connected to the past. Also, it just looks cleaner than the old version of the Default scheme.

- Davion: Now uses Crucis scheme, with dark olive drab and white. Resembles 5th Crucis Lancers and/or 1st Federated Suns Armored Cavalry. Many thanks to my YouTube subscribers who helped me decide on this, instead of staying with the original Davion Guards scheme.

- Kurita: Straight red, to resemble the elite Sword of Light brigade. Simple, but iconic for the Draconis Combine.

- Liao: Red, golden yellow, and black. This represents the Capellan Hussars brigade, which includes units like the Red Lancers and Holdfast Guard. When not acting as security for the Chancellor and Capellan nobility, they frequently rotate into combat theaters to provide expertise and maintain their edge. While the Capellan Warrior Houses have some nice camo schemes that include the typical "Liao Green," those formations are typically too small to serve as adequate "representatives" of the faction.

- Marik: Purple, red and blue, to resemble the Marik Militia. The iconic color scheme of the largest brigade in the Free Worlds League. We can't do red on the right and blue on the left, but it's close enough.

- Rasalhague: Made the primary color a dark blue, to better resemble the 1st Tyr (the FRR's flagship unit).

- Steiner: Now just blue and white, to better represent the Lyran Guards, the premiere fighting force of the Lyran Commonwealth.
