📋 About This Mod
A Lot Of Videos (ALOV)
An exhaustive and comprehensive 4K video overhaul project powered by AI.
What does this mod do?
ALOV is a project inspired by A Lot of Textures (ALOT) by CreeperLava, that remasters all of the prerendered cutscenes in Mass Effect Andromeda, that cannot be fixed or upgraded with texture/content mods, to stunning 4K resolution.
Mass Effect games have 2 types of visuals displayed in them:
- []Real-time rendered visuals, which consist of things like 3D models, textures, menus etc.
[
]Cutscenes and loading screens that are just video files due to the technical limitations of rendering them in real-time.In the case of the first, there are many mods improving them, from texture overhaul mods, to story overhaul mods. But since these prerendered cutscenes are just videos files - no texture, model, or other graphics mod can help them.
The only way to make them better is to fully substitute them for newer and better prerendered videos. Ones that have higher resolution and higher bitrate, so more
details are shown to the player. Originally, this was achieved using Topaz Video AI to upscale each video to 4K resolution.
The ALOV project has been featured many outlets such as Eurogamer, IGN, DSOGaming, Overclock3D, DFTG and TheGamer.
Our work in numbers:
Mass Effect Legendary Edition features 125 VP6 WEBM videos with a bitrate of 10MB/s, weighing in at 3. 13GB, the vast majority of which are 1080p. All of them have been given a 2x upscale to 2160p resolution.
We have upgraded the codec to VP8 as it is supported by the game engine, and improved the bitrate to 45MB/s.
In total, ALOV for MEA contains 125 4K VP8 WEBM videos weighing in at 8. 5GB
Note that a 60fps version is in development and coming soon.
ALOV for MEA upscales all prerendered cutscenes in Mass Effect: Andromeda to 4K, addressing a gap left by texture mods. With 186 endorsements and 3,657 downloads, it's a niche but appreciated visual upgrade for players wanting sharper cinematics.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Fills a real gap—texture mods leave cutscenes blurry, this fixes that
- Solid community trust with 186 endorsements from 3.6k downloads
- Still updated as of late 2024, so it's not abandoned
⚠️ Cons
- Only affects cutscenes—gameplay visuals unchanged
- Small mod with limited reach; might not get future updates if interest wanes
For Mass Effect: Andromeda players who hate blurry cutscenes and want a consistent 4K experience. Skip if you only care about gameplay or don't notice resolution in cinematics.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Check if your game version is compatible with the mod's last update (Nov 2024) before installing.
- Since it's a visual mod, test it on a save right before a cutscene to see the difference.
- If you use other visual mods, install ALOV last to avoid conflicts.
