Sigilmassasaurus (New Species) - Crocodila Coast Update

Sigilmassasaurus brevicollis is classified within Spinosauridae as a close relative or synonym of Spinosaurus. The species was named by Dale Russel in 1996 based on fossils from Morocco's Kem Kem Group. It is characterized by exceptionally short cervical vertebrae—reflecting its name, meaning "short neck"—and distinct pneumatic structures. Known mostly from isolated vertebrae, its taxonomic status remains debated, though it was a massive, large-bodied spinosaurid.
