📋 About This Mod
There are similar AHK scripts on the Nexus already but none that offered the functionality that I wanted so I made this one.
It's barely worthy of the title "mod" but maybe other people can benefit from it.
Turns Shift, Ctrl and Alt into Hold Modifiers. What this means is that by pressing Shift+ SpellButton (1234 by default), you can cast the spells from Spell Set 2. Once you release Shift, the game will go back to Spell Slot 1. Same with Ctrl for Spell Set 3 and Alt for Spell Set 4.
Obviously, you will need to bind the following in-game:
Spell Set 2: Shift
Spell Set 3: Ctrl
Spell Set 4 Alt
These keys may be bound to other things by default, so re-bind those functions. Keep F1 as Spell Set 1 as the script will use this to swap back to 1 after you release Shift, Ctrl or Alt.
You can edit the keys if you'd like, just right click on the .ahk file and click edit with Notepad.
A simple AutoHotkey script that lets you use Shift, Ctrl, and Alt as hold modifiers for spells. With 23 endorsements and 903 downloads, it's a niche utility for players who want to cast spells with modifier keys held down. Last updated in February 2023.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Tiny footprint – it's just an AHK script, so no bloat or performance hit.
- Does exactly what it says: hold Shift/Ctrl/Alt to modify spells, no extra fluff.
- Community-tested with 23 endorsements and 903 downloads – enough to show it works for some.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires AutoHotkey installed – if you don't have it, you'll need to grab that first.
- No documentation or instructions provided – you're on your own for setup.
- Last updated in 2023 – may not work with the latest game patches or AHK versions.
For players who want to bind spell modifiers to hold keys instead of toggles, especially if you're already comfortable with AutoHotkey. Skip if you prefer in-game keybinding options or don't want to run external scripts.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure AutoHotkey is installed and running before you launch the game, otherwise the script won't work.
- Test the script in a safe area first to see how the modifiers interact with your spell hotkeys.
- If the script doesn't work, try running it as administrator – some games block input from non-elevated scripts.
