"What is Reshade?"
ReShade is a generic post-processing injector for games and video software, that adds various effects to your games, like Image Sharpening, FakeHDR, etc.
ReShade supports all of Direct3D 9, Direct3D 10, Direct3D 11, Direct3D 12, OpenGL and Vulkan.
A computer with Windows 7 SP1, 8. 1, 10 or 11 and . NET Framework 4. 8 installed is required.
Reshade will work with both Normal MCC and the Anti-Cheat Disabled version (what you use to play MCC mods).
Reshade will not act up with MCC or cause you to get banned unless you are using the Addon Version of Reshade, so only use the normal Reshade!
"Why make this?"
The reason behind this Reshade configuration is to try and capture the visual tone of the Original Halo: Combat Evolved in CE Anniversary's graphics (to the best of my ability).
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is a title many Halo fans dislike, for its rushed development, asset reuse, and the point of this configuration, the Lighting/coloring.
CEA's lighting and coloring heavily moves away from what the Original Combat Evolved intended, and as such, many levels that had specific color choices and lighting (whether tech limitations, Art style, or both), looks vastly inferior to their original counterparts.
Levels that were purposefully dark to make you use your flashlight (like The Truth and Reconciliation), were heavily brightened to the point the flashlight was now useless, and the dark, scary lighting for Flood levels now diminished.
While I myself still personally enjoy CEA's graphics, the issues with its lighting were things I completely agreed with, and as such, the creation of this Reshade configuration began.
Due to the nature of what Reshade is, I can't manually configure settings for each level, and as such, have had to Reach a balance between the darks, vibrancy, and lights of CEA's graphics (took me forever lol).
Levels like 343 Guilty Spark and the Library are much darker (well, as dark as I could make it without making every other level pitch black), and bright levels like The Silent Cartographer are bright, whilst being vibrant enough to work closely with the original. The Flashlight (if you follow the step to adjust CEA's Gamma down below) is far more useful and important n
