Description

After way too much testing, tweaking, breaking things, changing them back, and generally driving myself slightly insane, I think I've finally landed on a really nice sweet spot.

The goal wasn't just more FPS.

It was to make the game look cleaner, feel smoother, and get rid of that choppy image feeling you sometimes get while moving the mouse around.

This isn't a "turn absolutely everything off" performance preset. Instead, it's a mix of tweaks from other great Engine.ini projects, my own testing, and a lot of trial and error to find what actually made a difference.

What's changed?

  []Removed Bloom [/]

  []Removed Lens Flares [/]

  []Removed Light Shafts [/]

  []Removed Eye Adaptation [/]

  []Disabled Volumetric Fog & Clouds [/]

  []Disabled standard Fog (this ended up being one of the biggest FPS gains during testing) [/]

  []Reduced shadow rendering distance and cascade count [/]

  []Tweaked Nanite and LOD behaviour [/]

  []Adjusted texture streaming for 8GB GPUs [/]

  []Enabled shader precaching and asynchronous compilation [/]

  []Tweaked streaming and rendering threads [/]

  []Disabled mouse acceleration and smoothing [/]

  []Added a number of frame pacing tweaks that, at least for me, made mouse movement feel much smoother. [/]

I also left some Lumen features enabled while reducing some of the more expensive reflection work to keep the game looking good without completely stripping away the lighting.

Using DLSS Native

I get roughly:

• []80-90 FPS on Ultra [/]

  []Around 100 FPS on Medium [/]

More importantly, the game simply feels smoother.

Average FPS isn't everything. I spent more time trying to improve frame pacing and mouse feel than chasing the biggest FPS number possible. For me, that made a much bigger difference than another 5-10 FPS.

Of course, your results will vary depending on your hardware.

I'm still learning as I go, so don't expect massive technical breakdowns for every single command just yet. As I continue testing and learning more about what Halo Campaign Evolved actually uses internally, I'll keep refining these profiles and updating the descriptions.
