Advanced Controller Rumble Vehicles-WIP

This is a raw .cs script for ScriptHookDotNet v1. 7. 1. 8 fork by Tomasak for GTA 4 Complete Edition v1. 2. 0. 59.

It will not work on older versions e.g. 1. 0. 8. 0.

What it does is detect all kinds of changes in speed, direction, and bumps while driving, and send appropriate xinput rumble commands to connected controllers.

I could not get quite a few in-game detections through this hook, one being the vehicle's RPM, which is rather limiting for my goals but still quite happy with what I managed to do.

Press P to change the intensity profiles, starts default on medium.

Press O if you want to see the debug overlay for some reason.

It may be a bit much at the moment, even with the Light profile.

Tweaked to make it a bit less sensitive.

Improved burst tire rumble.

Filled more vehicles into groups. Motorcycles split into racers and choppers.

Press O while in vehicle if curious.

Should work with any and all xinput compatible rumbling controller on the market.

Tested and works with Steam Input enabled for the game. That's how I play.

Install instructions:

1. Get Tomasak's ScriptHookDotNet fork updated for GTA 4 Complete Edition ver. 1. 2. 0. 59 here: https://github.com/Tomasak/gta4_scripthookdotnet/releases/tag/release

2. Add its contents to your GTA 4 install folder where GTAIV.exe is located.

3. Add this .cs file to the scripts folder.

4. Launch game.

Quirky bugs: Rumbles a tiny bit when getting into any car. Seems like the game detects a sharp jump on the z axis when getting in a car.

Rumbles sharply when a taxi reaches its destination. No idea why but I prefer it. Of course. It's braking.

Annoying bugs: So far only when an ongoing rumble event is happening (i.e. the controller is shaking) when you open the pause menu, the rumble will continue until you exit the menu and let the rumble event finish. Can't get my script to detect when the pause menu is open and kill all rumble (so far).

I have the framework for a separate environmental rumble script in the works. Together I plan for them to replace the (admittedly very limited) native controller rumble of GTA IV. So keep checking here every other month!
