Bodyguards / Gangs

A lightweight bodyguard and gang recruitment mod for GTA IV.

Recruit pedestrians from the streets, pay them to join your gang and have them follow you, fight alongside you, enter your vehicles and provide armed support during combat.

The mod is designed to use GTA IV's original group AI as much as possible instead of constantly forcing scripted movement tasks.

Recruitment

Approach a pedestrian and start recruitment.

The selected pedestrian will walk toward the player and offer their services for a randomly generated price.

Accept the offer to add them to your gang.

Maximum gang size is 3 members.

Keyboard Controls

• []G— Recruit nearby pedestrian[/]

  []E— Hire / accept[/]

  []Q— Decline[/]

  []T— Order gang members to attack the targeted pedestrian[/]

  []E— Cancel an active Attack Order[/]

  []Delete— Disband the gang[/]

Controller Controls

• []L3 / Left Stick Click— Recruit nearby pedestrian[/]

  []A / Cross— Hire[/]

  []B / Circle— Decline[/]

  []D-Pad Down— Attack Order[/]

  []D-Pad Down + A / Cross— Cancel Attack Order[/]

  []D-Pad Right + B / Circle— Disband gang[/]

Attack Orders

Aim at a pedestrian and issue an Attack Order.

Your gang members will attack the selected target.

Messages indicate the current order state:

Attack order given!

When the target is eliminated:

Attack order completed.

If you manually cancel the command:

Attack order cancelled.

After the order ends, bodyguards return to their normal GTA IV group behaviour.

Vehicle Behaviour

When the player enters a vehicle, bodyguards outside the vehicle will attempt to stop their current combat tasks and regroup with the player.

Each bodyguard is assigned an available passenger seat to prevent multiple gang members from trying to enter the same seat.

Once inside, passengers can use drive-by weapons against hostile targets and vehicles while the vehicle driver remains controlled by the normal GTA IV AI/player behaviour.

Notes

The mod intentionally keeps normal movement and following behaviour close to GTA IV's original group system.

Scripted AI is mainly used for recruitment, manual attack commands, vehicle regrouping and passenger combat.
