Third-Person Camera

Description

Grim Dawn Third-Person Camera is a lightweight, data-only camera mod that lowers the traditional isometric camera and allows a much closer third-person perspective.

The included “wide-zoom” configuration lets you move smoothly between a close third-person view and a wide tactical view using the normal mouse wheel controls:

The mod supports both existing Main Campaign characters and Custom Game characters.

Main Campaign support uses Grim Dawn’s built-in

/basemodslaunch mode. Your character remains in the normal Main Campaign roster, so there is no need to copy, convert, or edit the save file.

This is a compiled Grim Dawn database archive, not a DLL. It does not inject code, modify memory, replace the game’s original database, or install anything beside the two optional mod files.

.arzfile is compatible with native Windows and Linux/Steam Deck through Proton.

The reference release was built and tested with Grim Dawn v1. 3. 0. 3 x64 on Steam using Linux and GE-Proton10-29. It was tested in Custom Game and Main Campaign, including an existing level 43 Main Campaign character.

Native Windows uses the same Grim Dawn data format and installation layout. Native-Windows test reports are welcome on GitHub.

Installation instructions

Manual installation is recommended. Automatic installation through Vortex or another mod manager has not been tested.

Before installing:

  []Back up your save directory.[/]

  []Check whether another mod already installed

  mods/database.arz. Only one base mod can use that filename at a time.[/]

The

/basemodsoption should remain saved in Steam Properties. Passing it only through a one-time

steam -applaunchcommand can be unreliable, particularly when Steam displays Grim Dawn’s executable-selection dialog.

For GOG or a Windows shortcut, append

/basemodsafter the quoted path to the x64 executable:

"C:\GOG Games\Grim Dawn\x64\Grim Dawn.exe" /basemodsYour character remains in

save/main. The mod does not copy or modify the character.
