Better Torches

Better Torches improves the torches in Green Hell by rebalancing light output and offering complete control over its behavior. The mod separates Handheld Torches from Placed Torches (Wall Torch Holders/Stands). This allows you to have a bright, long-range beam for exploration while keeping your base mood lighting soft and warm, without one setting ruining the other.

Out of the box, Handheld Torches are set to a powerful 3. 0x Range and 1. 2x Intensity. This turns the standard torch into a genuinely useful exploration tool that cuts through the dark. Placed torches use softer defaults (1. 4x Range / 0. 8x Intensity) to preserve the atmosphere of your base. You can customize all these values instantly without restarting the game.

  Controls

  To adjust settings, hold Block and use the mouse scroll wheel or controller D-Pad. The mod decides which setting to change based on what you are holding.

  Default control mappings:

  • []Block: Keyboard R or Controller LT

    []Switch Weapons: Mouse scroll up/down or Controller D-Pad left/right

    []Item Menu: Mouse Right button or Controller Y/Triangle
