NEW_FIGHT_ANIMATION (for New Balance)

NFA (for New Balance) adds new animations for Orcish weapons, axes, and two-handed hammers at skill level 90+.

The archive contains 3 VDF files:

  []ORCS_AND_AXES_MOVES – axes 90+ and Orcish weapons[/]

Installation: Move one of the VDF files into the DATA folder.

About the animations:For axes at 90+ in the original game, they used halberd animations. The usual tactic was to land the first strike quickly, press strafe, and then land the first hit from the combo (basically relying on speed). I adjusted the new animations so that you can land 2, or even 3 strikes, without exceeding the original speed. I manage this using the W + A + D attack combination. The swings are wide and, in my opinion, fit axes very well.

Orcish weapons also used halberd animations (and spear animations for masters). But Orcish weapons included large swords, and the player character would strike by grabbing the blade (side strikes even started with a blade grab). I adjusted the animation speed to match halberds, but the first strike in a combo is still slightly slower. However, a key feature is that almost immediately after the first combo strike, the second and third can follow. There are only 3 strikes in a combo, so in battles with orcs, humans, or undead, it’s best to land 2–3 hits and then defend until the next attack window.

In the demo, you can see weapons and armor from the ULTIMATE ARMOR & WEAPON REPLACER mod, which I co-authored. In the upcoming update, Orcish weapons will be scaled to match these animations.
