Gothic II Gold Remaster

The project is based on content from the L'Hiver Edition of unknown111, revised worlds from the High Vegetation Mod by felsenschmied, bugfixes by Falugify and further graphic packs from Artemiano, Bentraxx, CeeX, ExCluD3D, Halk_Hogan, LordRiisis and Vurt. Without the individual works of these developers, the project would not exist in this form.

Harmonized Graphics Package

The best objects and textures from the mentioned works were carefully selected and merged into a consistent overall package. Numerous detail corrections, transition textures, color and lighting adjustments, as well as newly created content, ensure a coherent and authentic look. Not only were paths, grounds, roofs, and walls reworked, but large parts of the vegetation were redeveloped and expanded from scratch. As a result, landscapes now appear noticeably more natural and vibrant.

Enhanced Objects & Facelifts

In addition to reworked original assets, entirely new models and textures have been added. Thanks to modern upscaling techniques, monsters, armors, and faces appear significantly more detailed without altering the iconic Gothic style. Many NPCs and items also received higher-polygon models for greater depth and authenticity. Furthermore, the interface, inventory, and menus were visually refreshed and now blend more seamlessly with the overall game design.

Bug Fixes & Expansions

Extensive bug fixes, the removal of faulty objects, and the addition of numerous new details complete the package. Water surfaces and waterfalls have been replaced with elaborately animated textures and further enhanced with improved particle effects. Combined with optimized lighting and sound effects such as dynamic environmental illumination for spells and fine-tuned ambient sounds, the game world now feels noticeably more immersive and alive.

Installation instructions:

You need the original game incl. the addon The Night of the Raven in the official last version. Install following tools in the order listed, if you haven't already done so:

• NormalMaps (optional, only available in combination with D3D11 renderer - textures get a 3D/depth effect)

  Finally, run the Remaster setup and select your Gothic II game directory. The modification is compatible with all game languages and can be run after finishing the installation via GothicStarter.exe (located in the system folder of Gothic II).
