USS Olympia C-6

A 1:1 scale replica of the American protected cruiser USS Olympia. Commisioned in 1895 as a commerce raiding cruiser as part of the American naval doctrine of coastal defence that dominated that era. However, after the outbreak of the Spanish-American War in 1898 she sailed under Cmdre. G. Dewey as his flagship. Her most notable victory was at Manila Bay in the Phillipines which was an overwhelming success for the U. S and the first naval engagement of the war between the two nations. She also served through World War I in 1918 as the flagship for the Atlantic coastal patrol fleet. After the war she spent some years in the Mediterranean on diplomatic missions and eventually returned home to be decomissioned in 1922. She is; however, still afloat today as a museum ship in Philedelphia, PA. To date, she is the oldest steel warship afloat. - Complete Naval and Weapon AI - Top speed: 12. 2m/s - 2 x 2, 200mm Turret - 10 x 1,127mm cannon - 14 x 1, 57mm cannon - 6 x 1 Custom Torpedos The first of a few of my ships that I will be upgrading after the APS patch. In terms of armor, she has little, with two layers of metal and one of alloy along most of the surface hull. The magazines have an extra layer of metal and are located beneath the main turrets. The waterline hull has two layers of metal and is compartmentalized to avoid instant sinking. The superstructure has no additional armor at all except the singular layer of metal. This is done to avoid the horrible stability issues that the previous ship had. The casemate guns also have no armor, and are pretty exposed save for the mantlet. The turrets themselves are also unarmored, having mostly a single layer of metal. The guns themselves are much improved, and much more accurate in terms of size and rates of fire. They are still not meant to, and never will, be deathcannons--this is a cruiser from the 1890s, not a modern battleshi
