Lulu's Fury Fix

Description

This mod is made specifically to bypass Lulu's spinning analog stick minigame.

Why?

Because for many people, including myself, this minigame does not give a sufficient output for Lulu's fury magic, most of the time its lower damage than just casting a single black magic spell. Often times using double cast is the best option and lulus overdrive never gets used ever. Magic also scales slower than physical damage so having this overdrive do low damage makes lulu rather obsolete quickly.

Isnt there already a cheat engine hack to do this?

Yes there is. But it requires a third party software to be running at the same time as your game and to hit hotkeys to override the engine commands. My goal is to have this function available natively and maybe mod authors could use this method in their mods to make lulu a more enjoyable character to use in gameplay.

Can anyone use this in their hacks?

Yes, please use this. I wanted to post this for the sole purpose to share this with everyone that was looking for the same fix as i was. There was not much information about this. Most people either say it cant be done because its hardcoded or just use the cheat engine.

How does this work?

I used the master file editor "Spira Modifier"

i edited 2 areas in lulus fury overdrive. 

I changed icon to 18 (normal black magic spells)

and i changed overdrive category to 0x26 (rikkus mix overdrive)

So if you want to make these modifications yourself just do this.  

What is lulus damage like with this mod?

so after testing the total of the 16 furys come to 3. 2x the damage of a single cast. Therefore making it a better option even than doublecast. I may need to look into balancing it better, but this is the vanilla setting.

*as regards balancing i dont think i am going to touch the damage as to me it feels good where it is. Total damage ranges between 3x - 4x normal spell damage which feels right. Lowering hits or damage could hurt it and that is not the purpose of this mod. If you want to change the damage numbers or hits feel free to use the editor and play around with the values.

Are there any downsides?

There is a small downside, because we are tricking the engine to cast the spell like this, we skip the small voice line that lulu says before casting, but to me it is a small price to pay.

Installation instructions

1. Unzip the file

2. Copy ffx_ps2 to (your ffx/x2 installation location)\data\mods\

This is meant for a vanilla installation.

If you have a gameplay overhaul mod installed and it asks you to overwrite, dont do it.

You can still use this modification by following my instructions under the "how does it work?" category.

External File Loader

Version 1. 1 now includes mix and slots ctb fix

Version 1. 2 adds all language versions - french, german, spanish, italian, chinese, korean, japanese.
